My Prius Awaits A Sunday Night Rideshare Drive

After some time off to write, regroup, and re-examine the business of rideshare, I got back in the Prius’s saddle on a Sunday night. Sunday night should be easy, but sometimes you get a bad night out of the blue that has no rhyme or reason to it.

I threw my Fuji X100-F camera on my shoulder and headed out. The camera’s auto-focus just isn’t performing at night and I’ll figure that out if I get downtime.

With Love From Guyana

The first ride is a family I’ve taken many times and every ride is a total train wreck. I keep doing it out of curiosity. When it started this couple wanted to just throw their babies in the car with no seat. I couldn’t understand them very well and communication was tough. I showed them a picture of a baby seat for cars and the next time, they had one.

Now before you some Guinan thinks I’m picking on them, I’m not. I’ve given rides to many riders from Guyana that went smooth. Whatever is going on with this couple, probably doesn’t have much to do with their country of origin. The only reason I mention it is to emphasize the language barrier.

I pull up and it’s the mother and the girls. Dad’s in another house now. I suspect a split in the relationship. She’s screaming at them the entire time we load. Once…
